Chargers’ Matebesi Named to All-Region IV Men’s Soccer Team

Carl Sandburg College sophomore men’s soccer player Tumelo Matebesi (Pretoria, South Africa/Willowridge) has been named to the All-Region IV team for his play for the Chargers this season.
Matebesi started all 19 games in which he played and led the Chargers in goals (12), shots (73) and shots on goal (39). He also recorded one assist, and his 25 points were just one behind Mike Pavon (Galveston, Texas/Willis) for the team lead. Matebesi’s 73 shot attempts ranked 11th in all of NJCAA Division I.
Matebesi recorded four multi-goal games, highlighted by a hat trick in the Chargers’ 4-0 victory over Kennedy-King. He also led the team with two game-winning goals, doing so against Kennedy-King and in a 5-2 win over DuPage on Oct. 3.
